This is a video from a PCGS webinar discussing the basics of coin grading. The difference in grading mint state coins and circulated coins is explained. Terms such as surface preservation, strike, luster, eye appeal, and design wear are all elements that make up grading. Each of these terms for attributes of coins are used to some degree and the importance of each is explained in detail for the grading process. There are many coin photo examples used to illustrate the concepts covered. The grading scale is explained well. Overall, this is one of the best explanations of the grading process by one of the leading certifying companies.
